National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce President Chris Breen talks about the new national monument in Atlanta, Georgia, and the challenges and opportunities for Georgia’s LGBT community in the 2017 gay marriage bill.
article A new national park and monument in Georgia will add to the national pride movement, according to Chris Brennan, president of the Gay and Allied Civil Rights National Association.
Brennan told The Associated Press in an email that the National Park Service is creating a national monument for the first time in Georgia, along with two other new national monuments.
“This is a really important step toward ending discrimination in the gay and lesbian community in this country,” he said.
The proposed National Park is located at the northern end of the Chattahoochee National Forest, and is called the “Peak Waters National Park.”
The national monument will also include the Savannah River Delta, which is home to the Savannah Bay Wildlife Refuge.
At its heart is a “preservation area,” said Brennnans, who has worked in conservation for more than 20 years.
“We’re very pleased to be partnering with the National Parks Service on this,” he added.
In 2018, President Donald Trump signed an executive order that added the national monument to the National Register of Historic Places.
It is the first such monument to be created by the U.S. government.
“I’m really excited about it,” Brennans said.
“This is what we’re all looking for, is a national park, and this is what the people of Georgia need.
I think the Peak Waters is a great place for that.”
Georgia is one of several states that are expected to consider adding to national monuments in the coming years.
President Donald Trump announced last month that he is appointing a special envoy to help guide the development of a national monuments bill.
He said he wants to see monuments in all 50 states.
“The monument designation process is an important step in preserving the dignity and identity of the American people and providing meaningful protections to all Americans, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex people,” he wrote.
“We need to ensure that the protections that are available to LGBT Americans are in line with the dignity, human rights and civil liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of the United States.”
The Trump administration has also said that it will continue to work with states to protect the rights of LGBT people.
But Brenns said that the Trump administration will also be focusing on making sure that gay rights are protected and the monuments are built.
“The Trump team has a really good idea, but I think it’s going to be really important that they make sure that they work with the states,” he noted.
Georgia has long been one of the most progressive states in the country, according the American Civil Liberties Union, which tracks hate crimes in the U to show how hate crimes against LGBT people are increasing in some states.
The Georgia bill is expected to be debated in the state legislature.
